Good morning triathletes!
Hope everyone is oh so very excited to start school this year! Here are some important dates and times, so pull out your planners and jot ‘em down!
Unofficial practice will begin starting tomorrow, August 16th:
Thursday, 8-9 pm
Due to the amazingly hot weather, we will actually kick off the year indoors by holding an hour-long spin practice in Ramsey from 8 pm-9 pm. The spin room is located downstairs almost across from the women’s locker room. The spin class will last for the full hour, but it can be adjusted to any fitness level.
Friday, 6-7:30 pm
We will meet at the IM fields by the batting cages across from East Campus for an informal running practice. I, along with anyone else, will show everyone the basic trails at the IM fields, including the 5K loop and the 2K loop. We will follow with a meet and greet stretch session.
Saturday, 9-11 am
We will do an introductory 25 mile bike ride starting from the Varsity located on Broad street. From here, we will bike down Prince Avenue to Jefferson River Road. This will be a no-drop ride.
Official practice will not begin until next week, but the practice schedule is as follows:
Monday: Swim Practice, Ramsey Pool, 8-9pm
Tuesday: Run practice, 5:30 pm, meet at batting cages at IM fields
Wednesday: Swim practice, Ramsey Pool, 8-9 pm
Thursday: Spin practice, Ramsey, 8-9pm
Friday: no official practice
Saturday: Bike practice, 9 am, meet at Varsity and ride to Jefferson River Road
Sunday: no official practice
I encourage everyone to attend these first few practices so you can get to know your teammates!
We will also be holding an informational meeting on August 28th in Ramsey Room 225 from 7:30-9:00 pm:
At this MANDATORY meeting, everyone will need to fill out roster information, hazing and waiver forms and pay dues for the year. We will give out vital information to get you through the year, such as race information, contact sheets, practice schedules, club policies, dues information. Again, I repeat, this meeting is MANDATORY. Club sports requries certain paperwork from us every semester and we need to collect this paperwork at the meeting. There are a lot more of you than me, and it would almost be impossible to collect that information individually.
